1. About Untangled

Untangled is an app that helps people who are separating, or have separated, hand over practical, everyday knowledge — bills, home routines, pets, digital accounts and belongings — to the other person in a secure, encrypted vault. The app is provided by JYNE Labs, a Dutch sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak), and is governed by Dutch law.

2. Creating an account

To use Untangled you create an account with your email address, first name and last name. We send you a six-digit code to confirm your email address, and you need to confirm it before you can use the app. Both people involved in a vault create their own account.

3. Accepting these terms

To create an account, you read and accept these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy by ticking the required checkbox. We record the date and time you accepted, and which version of the terms you accepted. You must be at least 18 years old to use Untangled.

4. How your vault works

One person creates a vault and shares it with the other. Every vault is automatically deleted 90 days after it's created, and you'll get a reminder before that happens.

The AI Vault Assistant answers questions using only the information in the vault. It can be wrong, so please don't rely on it for legal, medical, financial or safety decisions.

5. Your encryption key, and what happens if you lose your device

Your vault is encrypted on your device. The encryption key stays on the device that created it and is never stored in readable form on our servers.

That keeps your notes private — but it also means that if you lose your device or delete the app, you may lose access to your vault. We can't recover encrypted content for you, because we never have the key. If something matters, export it before it's too late.

6. Marketing

Marketing emails are optional. You can choose to receive them with a separate checkbox at sign-up, and you can withdraw your consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us. Accepting these terms never requires you to accept marketing.

7. Deleting your account

You can delete your account and all your data from within the app at any time. Deleting your account also deletes any vault you created. If you opted in to marketing, we keep your account details only for as long as you stay subscribed. Withdrawing consent deletes them.

8. Acceptable use

Please don't use Untangled to harass, threaten or contact another person, to store illegal content, or to try to access someone else's vault. We may suspend an account that breaks these rules.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we make a material change, we'll ask you to accept the new version before you next create a vault or change your account. The date of the last update is always shown at the top of this page.

10. Limitation of liability

Untangled is provided as is. As far as the law allows, we're not liable for indirect loss, or for decisions made based on information in a vault. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under mandatory consumer protection law.
